In the recent Business in Vancouver | Business Excellence Series supplement on Recruitment & Retention, Cori Maedel was asked about the use of personality assessments during the hiring process.
” Personality assessments should be employed with some degree of caution. “
” Just as a face-to-face interview cannot be relied upon to provide a complete picture of a candidate, nor should a personality assessment…a thorough resume, references and an interview cannot be replaced. Although they can be supplemented. The test should be 25-30% of the overall decision. Too much weight can be a negative. But the tests can be a super tool, if used correctly.”
