Congratulations Divas!

Dear Divas,

This past weekend was the 2nd Diva on the Run this year to raise money for Arthritis. It was fabulous to meet so many of you and to cheer you on as you crossed the finish line!

Thank you to those who shared their reasons for participating in the Diva on the Run. (Please read a sample of the stories below from some of your fellow Divas.)

Whatever your goal was that you set and whatever your mantra was that you kept telling yourself, each and every one of you Divas who participated in the race on Sunday completed the run! Congratulations to each of you for quieting those negative voices and telling them to “Shut the Duck Up”!

Sign up online or call me to join us for a free Kokoro(e) coaching session and learn more about how you may benefit from our services here at Jouta. The winner of the gift basket that was on display at LadySport was Linda Bentley. Congratulations Linda!

Of course, the big winners are the people who will benefit from the money raised (over $3000!) going towards finding a cure for Arthritis. Way to go Divas!

We hope to see you again October 18th for the final run of the 2009 Diva on the Run series!

STORIES FROM YOUR FELLOW DIVAS:

The following are the individual stories of why people have participated in the Diva on the Run. It certainly gives you an idea of the different paths people have travelled to be part of the event that is common to all of us. Thank you to the Divas who have shared their stories:

“My boyfriend and partner of 9 years has Arthritis. Over 5 years ago he had hip resurfacing surgery which has allowed him to continue to play the sports that he loves and to live an active life. In 2003 I ran the Honolulu Marathon with the Arthritis Society’s Joints in Motion team. Since then I try to participate in something every year that helps out with the Arthritis Society.” – Marilyn Richardson

“I think that seeing this many women getting together to celebrate their health and fitness is a great thing. I have run numerous half marathons and training for the Diva half in 2008 was a great stress reliever to me after my father died unexpectedly in the summer. The support from my running partners helped a great deal and knowing that we had a goal to reach made it easier to get up and go on those long runs. The Diva series is fantastic and fun and I love participating in the events no matter the distance. The feeling of accomplishment at the end is great!” – Kerrie Turner

“I am a strong proponent of running in general and having an event where it is all women provides a safe and friendly environment to promote healthy living. As well, knowing that the Diva races are generally small, I like supporting the community when I can.” – Linda Wong

“This will be my first running event! Fingers crossed!!” – Dominique de Chantal

“I’ve been a Diva since the first event and for this particular run, both myself, husband, sister-in-law and brother-in-law are all arthritis ‘endurers’” – Kristie Congram

“It is inspiring to see women of all ages and body types coming together in this supportive environment to participate and raise money for The Arthritis Society. The events are well organized and fun…..I love being a Diva!” – Louise Peters
